Nicht umsonst gilt Amsterdam als die fahrradfreundlichste Stadt der Welt. Der Hovenring zwischen den St\u00e4dten Eindhoven, Veldhoven und Meerhoven, der an einem 70 Meter hohen Pfahl h\u00e4ngt, vergr\u00f6\u00dfert diesen Abstand noch einmal deutlich. Dort sorgt der erste schwebende Kreisverkehr der Welt, der Hovenring, f\u00fcr Aufmerksamkeit.<\/p>\n<p>Der Hovenring ist eine kreisf\u00f6rmige Br\u00fccke f\u00fcr den Zweirad- und Fu\u00dfverkehr, mit einem Durchmesser von 72 Metern, welche mit 24 Abspannseilen an einem 70 Meter hohen Pylonen \u00fcber der f\u00fcr den Stra\u00dfenverkehr wichtigen Verkehrsachse Heerbaan aufgeh\u00e4ngt ist. Die Auf- bzw. Abfahrten zum Kreisverkehr wurden mit einer geringen Steigung (1,86% \u2013 3,09%) gestaltet, um den Radfahrern einen m\u00f6glichst gro\u00dfen Fahrkomfort zu bieten.<\/p>\n<p>Die Kosten des Projekts betrugen elf Millionen Euro. 40 % davon wurden durch die Stadt Eindhoven getragen, 60 % finanzierte die Europ\u00e4ische Union.
